Planning your trip
At Sachatamia, guests can walk through a natural subtropical jungle, passing pristine rivers while enjoying and observing a variety of endemic trees, plants and wildflower species such as orchids, bromeliads, heliconias and anturios, among others. Recommendations: Rubber boots and waterproof jacket. The hostel is not suitable for children under 12 years. We appreciate your understanding.
​One of the main attractions is the hundreds of species of birds that inhabit the lush protected forest, apart from agoutis, anteaters, armadillos and deer. One of the two "LEK" (a place of courtship and reproduction between birds) registered in Ecuador as belonging to the Umbrellabird Longuipendulo, is inside the reserve. Recently an umbrella nest was discovered and the birth of an umbrella was witnessed by the scientific community.
